(CNN) -- The space shuttle Columbia, lost with its seven-person crew in a catastrophic re-entry accident on Saturday, was considered for retirement in 2001.

(CNN) -- The space shuttle Columbia broke up during re-entry Saturday, killing the seven astronauts aboard. NASA has suspended shuttle flights and launched an investigation into the disaster.

(NASA) -- We're going to find out what caused this!

(BUSH) -- The final days of their own lives were spent looking down upon this Earth, and now, on every continent, in every land they can see, the names of these astronauts are known and remembered.
